I created this video for students who have taken my “Basic Handun”, “Home Defense Fundamentals” and/or “Maryland HQL Training” classes. It is meant to be a refresher for someone who has not cleaned their gun a while or a good introduction to basic handgun cleaning for a brand new handgun owner.
Although there are additional techniques and tools to effectively clean a handgun in various conditions, this video will focus on the basics of a standard cleaning.
I start off the video reviewing the four universal gun safety rules, make sure the firearm is unloaded and there is no ammunition in the room and then begin the breakdown process on a modern striker fired semi-auto handgun.
Next, I go over the main cleaning steps and demonstrate how to perform those steps. Finally, we go over the steps to reassemble the firearm.
